of life and education in new places.....

So here i am enjoying my relaxing walk to town as i wait for my next lecture.Well the joy was only short-lived.A man old enough to be my father or even grandfather walks up behind me and reaches out to touch me.Having sensed his presence long before i had seen him i ducked sideways to avoid him.Boy oh boy was he frusrated .Went on and on ranting and raving about nothing i could understand. All i could make out was,"sisi....blah blah blah blah ,,,blah blah". So being the non-South African I am i wasn`t bothered .As much as he thought he had told me off,i didnt hear a thing. So practically he was speaking to himself.

I don`t know what it is that people here in Grahamstown do not understand. The community is completely aware of the fact that there are so many people from diverse backgrounds learning at rhodes but sometimes they are ignorant when it comes to the thiings that matter. Some seem to think that if i am black ,then surely i must be South African. They go as far as to start addressing you in their language( which i must say is hard to understand)without giving you the chance to explain why you cannot answer them.

Rhodes is one of the places where people from different countries come to learn. So at least the community should not expect every black person to automatically be Xhosa or Zulu.

LeTs GeT PhIlOsOpHiCaL~!!

what on earth is love if it can only be determined by
red roses and Valentine`s day?
what on earth is a funeral if someone
is celebrating while you moan?
Whats the use of crying when
a headache is all you get in return?
what`s the use of entering into a relationship
if you know you are going to get hurtin the end?
What`s the use of living life when
we all know that someday we will die?
Now i see hopw inexplicable human emotion is....

breezy gets cheeky

So after all the hustle and lying for so long about their relationship, Rihanna and boyfrend Breezy finally found an easy way to let thetruth be told. Now thre certainly is no hiding the fact that they were dating after all.Well, i know everyone not just me is speculating about why she got harassed but seriously nobody deserves that.Whatever it was she didn`t deserve the violence she got in return. And to think i thot Chris Brown was the sweetest thing that ever happended to r`n`b.

So lets get down to the real issue. Why do men in particular, suddenly become hostile or violent once they know they got you all to themselves. It happens everyday and what distresses me the most is that women are not expected to do things like take your hubby to court or bail out on the marriage. Some men just seem to think if i beat her up i have arioght to or i can apologise afterwards.(jus like breezy)

If you are areal gentleman then you would know that there is no excuse for violence whatsoever. It is just not an option.Culturally wher i come from women sometimes get beaten up by their husbands and are told by their aunts" shinga semunhukadzi" .Literally meaning be as brave as women are supposed to be.I know its culture but this is the 21st century and no hsband has the right to beat up their wives.

Personally if i had a boyfrend who beat me up ,i would walk out the minute he laid his hands on me.So to all the women who feel they are being harassed seek assistance from professionally trained counsellors and relevant organisations. You deserve better than beatings from him!!!!

fish and sharks

They swim all round me
mind boggling and meddling too
Unforgivable fins and canines
i might not have but i imagine
How ugly i would be clad in them
The ocean rushing and gushing at my sight
ohhh yes the joy of knowing:
My astronomic shape is what gives me my identity ,my pride,
Iam but a starfish.
